Released on March 14, Playboi Carti’s album broke records as 2025’s most-streamed album on its first day. The project features collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Lil Uzi Vert and Future. We’ll continue to monitor how much Carti’s impact ripples for the rest of the year.
The Alchemist –Various Projects (2025)
The only producer on the list. As the underground’s most revered producer, The Alchemist has remained a cornerstone of Hip-Hop through this early phase of 2025. He’s already dropped collaborative masterpieces likeForensicswith Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and laced projects from artists across the spectrum.
On February 7, ALC droppedLife Is Beautiful, a collaborative project with Larry June and 2 Chainz. In December 2024, he and Roc Marciano dropped the acclaimed The Skeleton Key. He’s got a Mobb Deep project on deck and he’s producing the entirety of Erykah Badu’s next album, so he’s just getting warmed up. Alchemist continues to shape the underground’s aesthetic and his fingerprints are on some of the year’s most critically lauded records. He’s the rare modern producer whose name alone carries the same weight as top-tier rappers.
